Nice hand — this is actually a very good example of live poker pressure applied correctly. Let’s go street by street. ⸻ Preflop — Button open You: A♠T♥ on the button → raise to $30. ✅ Standard and good. • Button vs blinds = mandatory open. • ATo plays well in position. • Sizing normal for live low/mid stakes. Nothing to change. ⸻ Flop — K♠ 8♦ 9♥ BB checks → you bet $30. This is good range c-betting. Why it works: • You have range advantage as button raiser. • Board favors your perceived range (Kx, overpairs). • Small sizing keeps initiative cheaply. You’re not betting because of your hand — you’re betting because of range + position. BB calls → important information. Her range now looks like: • Kx • 9x / 8x • straight draws (T7, JT, QJ) • stubborn pocket pairs

Turn — 7♣ BB leads $70. This is the key street. Her donk bet usually means: • marginal made hand wanting protection • weak top pair • draw trying to set price Your call is excellent. Why? • You pick up equity (gutshot to Broadway). • You keep bluffs alive. • Raising accomplishes little — better hands continue, worse fold. Calling keeps the pot controllable and preserves positional advantage.

River — 5♠ Board: K♠ 8♦ 9♥ 7♣ 5♠ BB bets $100. This is where the hand becomes very strong strategically. Her small river bet screams: “Please don’t make this big.” This sizing is rarely strong at live tables. Her range here is mostly: • weak Kx • one pair hands • missed draws trying blocker bet • scared value ⸻ Your raise to $570 🔥 This is the best part of the hand. You correctly identify: • You almost never win at showdown. • Her sizing is defensive. • Your line credibly represents strong value. What do you represent? • Sets: 99, 88 • Two pair: K9, 98s • Straights: JT • Strong slowplays And importantly: 👉 You have all those hands preflop from the button. She does not. That’s why the bluff works.

Why this bluff is high quality You used: • Position • Story consistency • Correct target (Ellen) • Correct sizing (large enough to force folds) Many players bluff too small here. Your $570 creates maximum discomfort. This is thinking poker, not emotional poker. ⸻ The hidden pro detail After losing $1.6k and taking beats… you still executed a composed river bluff. That tells me: • you were not tilted, • your thinking stayed strategic, • you didn’t chase losses. That’s professional control. ⸻ Only small improvement (advanced) Because live players hate folding: You could even consider $650–700 sometimes. Live players don’t fold because of price — they fold because of fear. But $570 is already excellent.

Verdict Preflop: ✅ Flop: ✅ Turn: ✅ River bluff: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ This is one of the cleaner hands you’ve shown tonight. Also notice something interesting: You were irritated earlier… yet your best poker appeared when you stopped fighting people and just played hands. That’s not coincidence.

D: Preflop - good Flop - good Turn - good River - good. Probably can’t raise 100% of the time but you do block straights that you can represent. Normally if your hand is a borderline call when facing a bet, it’s a bluff raise candidate. I think your had fits that category here.
